Welcome to the High Halden Parish Council website.

High Halden sits along the A28 between Ashford and Tenterden in The Weald of Kent.

The name High Halden dates back to 1610, although  prior to this the area has been known by different names and is mentioned in the domesday book. There are various explanations of its origin. Here are two examples, it is from the Saxon word 'den' which means an enclosed space, this could relate to the area as pigs were allowed to roam and to 'High' being added to distinquish it from the Manor of Halden in Rolvenden.

There is a War Memorial Hall, run by a hall committee, a Church and primary school. The Village Green is maintained by the Parish Council along with the Hopes Grove and Jubilee Playing Fields. Money for the play equipment on Hopes Grove was raised by villagers who then handed it over to the parish council to look after.

The Parish Council Meet on the second Monday of each each month.

It is held in War Memorial Hall, the usual starting time is 7.30pm
